LEH, June 12: Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) LAHDC Jamyang Tsering Namgyal met with the daily wagers of PHE Department, who are on indefinite strike since last few days.
Addressing the protesters, CEC informed that he has submitted a memorandum to Governor demanding release of pending wages of the daily wagers viz regularization of casual labours of PHE Division/PWD Circle, Leh.
He added that the Governor issued an order from the concerned Commissioner Secretary office in their favour authorizing DC, Leh/CEO LAHDC, Leh to settle the issue as allowed by Finance Department.
Namgyal said that as per the order the wages will be released soon as per provision in installments if not in one go. He said that the issue of permanent regularization of casual labours is also taken up personally by Governor with Chief Secretary and gave assurance to resolve the matter soon.
Respecting the words of JTN, the protesters called off their strike.
