RAJOURI, May 20: The villagers from Nagrota and Mehra today held protest demonstration against the PHE authorities for their failure to ensure water supply to the area for the last one month.
The villagers led by Panchayat members of the area came out on the road near Palma and then blocked Rajouri-Budhal road from 9 AM to 10 AM. They were shouting slogans against the PHE authorities. The villagers alleged that due to fault in the motors of pumping station, the supply in the area has been snapped for the last about one month. They said the concerned officials were informed about the matter but water supply has not been restored. They blocked road and disrupted movement of traffic for about an hour.
Later, SHO Rajouri Insp Chaman Gorkha and concerned AEE reached the spot. On their assurance, the agitating villagers then lifted dharna and allowed movement of the vehicles.
