JAMMU, Mar 22: The people from Indira Colony, Lakad Mandi and Shant Nagar areas of Janipur today held protest against the CAPD department for supplying wheat to the consumers instead of Atta.
A large number consumers assembled at CAPD ration depot near Disco Road/ JDA complex today after they came to know that ration has arrived there after one and half month. As they came to know that dealer was giving wheat instead of Atta, the people got agitated. They found that CAPD had supplied only wheat for the public at the depot.
Upon this, they blocked New Plot-Janipur-Ban Talab Road and started protest demonstration at around 5.30 pm. Large number of women also joined the protest. They were raising slogans against CAPD department, Governor, Chief Secretary, Commissioner/ Secretary and Director CAPD. A large traffic jam was created there.
Local leaders, Yashpal Sharma (Mantu) and Mukesh Sharma (Chhotu) said that supply of wheat was not acceptable to the public and the Government must review its decision. With the intervention of SHO Janipur then the road was cleared after an hour. No senior CAPD official was available for comments.
