Protest against Revenue Deptt, road blocked

MENDHAR, Mar 7:  The people from Ari area today held protest demonstration against the Revenue authorities at village Ari in Gursai area and blocked Mendhar-Surankote road for about two hours.
Reports said that one Mohd Azam, resident of Gursai started some construction work at the land under Khasra No 1402 at village Ari.  One Mohd Zaid Mir and some other neighbours raised objection, claiming that the land belonged to Government. They said that on this State land people of the area graze their cattle.
Mohd Azam claimed that he purchased this land from one Mohd Yakoob, resident of Ari village and he possessed proper Revenue record.  Upon this there was some clash between members from Azam’s family and others, Three persons also received minor injuries during the clash.
Later, the villagers sat on dharna on Mendhar-Surankot road and started protest demonstration at around 11 am. They shouted slogans against Revenue authorities and alleged that papers were prepared by the field Revenue staff for monetary considerations by tempering record. They were demanding  inquiry into the matter and action against the Revenue officials involved.
Later, SHO Mendhar Anzir Mir and Naib Tehsildar on the directions of SDPO Shahid Nahim reached there and assured the people to hold inquiry into the matter. The SHO asked Mohd Azam and Patwari concerned to produce record tomorrow and asked them to reach Police Station.  The protest dharna was lifted at around 1 pm.
