KATRA, Aug 6: To lodge protest against bad condition of lanes and drains besides illegal possession given to Labour Union by Katra Municipal Committee in its official premises, local residents led by senior Congress leader and MLC Jugal Kishore Sharma today staged a strong protest demonstration.
Raising slogans, the protestors assembled at the office of KMC and gheroed the Director Local Bodies as well as other officials for more than an hour. They alleged that the KMC was not paying heed to repair of lanes and drains but only favouring some blue eyed Labour Union leaders.
Criticizing KMC for its undue favour to Labour Union by providing it a portion of its office to set up Union’s office, protestors alleged that municipal committee was working against the people of Katra.
The protesters were pacified by Director Local Bodies K L Khajuria who assured necessary action for vacating the KMC office.
The Director also announced Rs 25 lakh of funds for the repair and improvement of lanes and drains following which the protesters dispersed off.
