JAMMU, June 7: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (DFSS) under the leadership of their president, Ashok Gupta, held a protest here near Rani Park against the callousness of the Government in providing smooth power supply to the people of Jammu.
The protesting workers burnt an air cooler to express their anger against unscheduled power cuts. They said that in this scorching heat, it is impossible to live without electricity but the Government has turned a blind eye to this issue of urgent nature due to which several areas are reeling under severe shortage of water.
Addressing the protesters, Ashok Gupta said that in many areas there are power cuts for over 9 hours a day affecting water supply. He demanded that a committee be formed to probe why Jammu region is region neglected in terms of power supply when the Secretariat shifts to Srinagar.
Gupta further demanded that all pumping station should have 24 hours power supply so that the people of the city don’t have to suffer on account of water shortage.
