POONCH, Aug 19: The people from Poonch town including Beopar Mandal members today held  strong protest demonstration against the BSNL authorities for the poor services and break down in the internet services in the area, hitting the banking  and other works badly.
After the holidays of about four days,  various offices and banks resumed their normal work today.  Due to break down in internet services various banking  operations were stalled. There was huge rush of customers in the banks after several holidays. The people kept waiting at various bank branches. Moreover, for the last few days the internet service was not available  in the area.
Upon this, a large number of people earlier gathered near main State Bank of India branch  and then moved towards the main Telecom (BSNL) office near Bus Stand, on Poonch-Jammu road. They raised barricades and started protest demonstration at around 11 am on the road. The movement of vehicles came to halt on this busy road. The people including members of Beopar Mandal raised slogans against J&K BSNL authorities. They alleged that due to poor facilities the general public is badly affected and the senior officers were least bothered about the public plight.   Moreover, State Government has also turned  mute spectator.
Later, SHO and senior officials from the Administration reached the spot and assured the agitating public to take up the issue with the concerned higher authorities in Jammu. The agitating public then lifted dharna at around 1 pm and allowed movement of traffic.
