RAJOURI, Sept 1: The students and locals of the area today held strong protest against the worst condition of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) road in Rajouri here today.
A larger number of BGSB University students along with locals of the area, came out on the road leading to Varsity near Rajouri town and blocked it for several hours. They raised barricades on the road and sat on dharna. They were shouting loud slogans against the PW(R&B) authorities and District Administration, Rajouri.
The road remained blocked for hours and the protestors alleged that local administration was not paying any attention towards this road and it has left public to suffer.
They strongly demanded overhauling of entire District Administration and shifting of all the key district officers from Rajouri. They alleged that administration remains mute spectator and inactive on many issues and some effective officers be placed here.
They said the road leading to BGSB University from Rajouri town is in worst condition since long. They brought the issue to the notice of Executive Engineer R&B and even the District Administration. Several times protests were also held but nobody bothers about the plight of the general public. R&B Division Rajouri failed to maintain this road and ensure urgent repair work. Entire road has turned accident prone, they alleged.
The road  is in dilapidated condition and it becomes difficult for students, staff and others to ply vehicles on this road. Most of the students use their scooties as means of transport to reach university but they have to face hardships to reach university due to worse condition of road leading to University. Not only this one, but several other roads in the town are also in worst condition, they added.
Public and the students appealed the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to personally intervene into the matter as road in the heart of city has remained totally neglected by the people at the helm of affairs in the Rajouri District Administration.
