It will an excellent move on the part of the Government to hold a week-long adventure tourism festival in the Valley. The State has tremendous potential for adventure tourism. The landscape of the three provinces of the State-Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh are gifted with such places which could be used for adventure sports. River rafting, paragliding, trekking and mountaineering are ideal sports that can attract sports lovers across the world.
The Tourism festival could prove be an excellent opportunity for giving publicity to adventure tourism. There is need to give wide publicity through electronic and print media to this aspect of tourism.
The Tourism Department must ensure that there are all facilities available to the participants. A special cell within the Department should be created to look after the needs of Adventure sports lovers.
Adventure sports would create job opportunities for local youth and give a big boost to State economy.
