Schools, colleges to reopen today

JAMMU, Nov 10: As complete normalcy prevailed across Jammu region for second consecutive day today, authorities ordered lifting of day curfew in Kishtwar and prohibitory orders from other districts from tomorrow while educational institutions will also re-open across the province on Monday.
In sensitive Rajouri and Poonch districts, educational institutions up to Higher Secondary Level will re-open tomorrow while colleges will remain shut. However, in other districts, the colleges will also re-open.

Divisional Commission Jammu Sanjeev Verma told the Excelsior that prohibitory orders imposed in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi and Udhampur districts will be lifted from tomorrow morning while all educational institutions will re-open.
“Situation in entire Jammu province remained completely peaceful for second consecutive day today,” Verma said.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana told the Excelsior that day curfew will be lifted in entire Kishtwar town and surroundings tomorrow and schools as well as colleges will re-open.
“All examinations will be held as per routine,” Rana said, adding that night curfew will remain in force in Kishtwar town and surroundings from 10 pm to 4 am as precautionary measure.
He said Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi festival and Urs passed off peacefully in the entire Kishtwar district today.
In sensitive Doda district, prohibitory orders under Section 144 will remain in force but all schools and colleges will resume working tomorrow. The prohibitory orders will not be enforced but will continue as preventive measure.
SSP Doda Mumtaz Ahmad said situation all across Doda district was peaceful.
However, in Poonch and Rajouri districts, the district administration ordered that colleges (both private and Government) will remain closed tomorrow while all other educational institutions up to the level of Higher Secondary will re-open.
In Ramban district, the administration has withdrawn Section 144 and ordered re-opening of all educational institutions including colleges from tomorrow.
Curfew was clamped in Kishtwar town and surroundings while prohibitory orders were imposed under Section 144 in nine other districts of Jammu region yesterday in the wake of Supreme Court verdict on sensitive Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute at Ayodhya.
However, it was day as usual today in majority parts of Jammu region where shops and business establishments reopened and private traffic plied normally. However, commercial vehicles like buses and matadors remained off the roads in Jammu and other major roads. At some places, commercial transport including matadors also plied.
Sources said commercial transport will ply normally in the entire region including National Highways and major roads from tomorrow morning.
However, as a precautionary measure, additional para-military forces and the Rapid Action Force (RAF) will remain deployed in sensitive areas of Jammu region.
An official handout said “Precautionary restrictions were lifted from Jammu and schools and colleges in the division shall remain open from tomorrow, according to Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma.
He informed that examinations for the winter zone and other examinations will be held as per the schedule from tomorrow, the handout said.
It added the restrictions were lifted for Jammu division after an assessment that the situation in the region remained normal and peaceful and no untoward incident was reported.
