Make women feel empowered: DIG DKR

JAMMU, June 10: Range Police Headquarters DKR has taken serious note of crime against women. A Capacity building Programme was organised to enhance skills of Women’s Help Desks established in every Police station in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS).
On the directions of Shridhar Patil, DIG DKR Range, one-day capacity building programme for the staff of Women Police Stations and Women Help Desks of district Ramban was conducted at District Training Centre, DPL Ramban. Regional Coordinators Balwant Singh, RCI-VAM,TISS and Priksha Sharma, Special Cells for Women, Jammu Division (implemented by TISS Mumbai in collaboration with J&K Police) were main speakers on the occasion, who conducted sessions through participatory mode on the concept “Social Construct of gender and violence against women”.
Several myths and misconceptions about violence against women were dispelled with participants sharing their views.
The objective of the training was to educate the staff of Women Police Stations and Women Help Desks, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to better serve and support women in distress.
Twenty Five participants attended the day long session.
DIG DKR in his message stressed on the aspects that it’s our collective duty to make women feel empowered enough that she could raise her voice against crime and associate with police to bring the culprits to justice.
