JAMMU, Sept 21: Professor DP Abrol, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SUKAST), Jammu, renowned beekeeping scientist and nominated member of Beekeeping Development Committee-1 of NITI Aayog participated in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Dr Bibek Debroy Advisor Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister of India at New Delhi.
The other members and participants present in the meeting included Rattan P Watal, Member Secretary, EAC-PM and K Rajeswara Rao, Advisor, EAC-PM, Prof MR Srinivasan from TNAU Coimbatore, Prof Ramamurthy from IARI, New Delhi, Director National Bee Board, Horticulture Commissi-oner Government of India and some other beekeeping experts.
The meeting was held in reference of the following terms which included suggesting measures for overall development of scientific beekeeping in the country and quality production of honey and other beehive products, coordinating, promoting, sponsoring and supporting research, extension and development in beekeeping in the country as an essential input for agricultural production, suggesting post harvest management measures and infrastructural development for beehive products viz honey, bee pollen, propolis, bee wax, royal jelly, etc.
