POONCH, Feb 13: Deputy Commissioner Poonch has ordered a probe into the alleged sub-standard work being executed on the new building of Dak Bungalow at Mendhar.
The action was taken by the District Administration after SDM, Mendhar Romesh Kumar on receiving several complaints personally visited the complex and found water seepage from the new roof and sub-standard work of pillars and slab initiated there by the contractor. He asked the contractor to stop the work, pending inquiry and took up the matter with the DC Poonch, M H Malik.
Mr Malik said to have stopped the payment of the contractor and directed Executive Engineer R&B to hold inquiry and submit the report within a week. The SE R&B Circle Rajouri-Poonch also paid visit to the site on Thursday and discussed the issue with the officials of the Mendhar R&B Sub Division. The SDM disclosed that this new building of Dak Bungalow is being constructed with the cost of Rs 82 lakh. Contract worth Rs 57 lakh had been given to one Munir Khan by the department. He has been asked to stop work immediately. His pending payments have also being stopped, the SDM maintained.
