POONCH, Feb 13: A prisoner escaped from high security Poonch jail but was captured by the security men after a hot chase last night.
Police sources said that one Mohd Rashid, son of Sattar Din, resident of Degwar Kalsan village near the LoC was lodged in Poonch jail. He was undergoing punishment for alleged border crossing and some other offences. Last night he managed to slip away from lock up and mounted on the outer wall and jumped away. The security men on duty noticed his act and started chasing him. He was later captured after hot chase.
SSP Poonch, J S Johar when contacted confirmed the incident but said that he was nabbed by the policemen on duty. Regarding any action in this regard against jail, Mr Johar said it was under the domain of Jail Superintendent to act in case of security lapse inside the jail.
