JAMMU, July 20: To address the problem of damaged infrastructure due to recent rains in Mohalla Prem Nagar and adjoining areas, Minister of State for Education, Information, and Culture Priya Sethi and Senior Leader Yudhvir Sethi today toured the area and issued on spot instructions for immediate restoration of the lanes, drains and other infrastructure.
Acting swiftly on the problems projected by the people, Priya had earlier toured the area and assured the residents for early start of the restoration works. It was noted that rainwater and water form adjoining nallah was directly hitting foundation of the houses in the locality.
Realising importance of the situation, the Minister took the issue with management of the school and a joint tour along with senior officers of the administration was undertaken.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Simrandeep Singh, representatives of Delhi Public School, Executive Engineers of PWD, JMC, UEED, officers and engineers of other concerned line departments accompanied during the tour.
Taking stock of the problems, Priya directed the UEED to immediately submit project report for the area so that the issue raised by the people are addressed once for all. She did an on spot assessment of the problems faced by the residents and issued directions for redressal of the same at the earliest.
She called upon the Deputy Commissioner to regularly monitor the progress of work and ensure that the problems raised by the people are addressed on priority.
Assuring time bound redressal of the issues, Yudhvir called upon the authorities to immediately start the restoration work on war footing.
Yudhvir stressed on ensuring regular supply of water in the area and he appealed PHE authorities to take immediate steps in this regard.
