JAMMU, July 20: Referring to the suspension of three Congress leaders; Gulchain Singh Charak, Abdul Gani Vakil and Prem Sagar Aziz by the AICC Central Disciplinary Committee, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesman Ravinder Sharma said that the action has been taken against them in view of their continued acts of omission and commission, which tantamount to gross indiscipline and anti party activities, harming the interests and maligning the image of the party.
“The rank and file and the party for quite some times, were of the view that there was need for a stern action against such elements, who have availed high positions due to the blessing of the party but have been indulging in highly irresponsible manner, creating indiscipline and factionalism among the party cadres. The action of the party high command follows ample opportunity to such leaders to mend their ways and the same had become unavoidable and long overdue, which is a right step to ensure the required discipline, essential in any organization, for its smooth functioning,” he said in a statement.
Mr Sharma  also rubbished the baseless charges being leveled by some  of these leaders following action against them and said that such claims  were  just ‘after thought’ and more or less a vain attempt of ‘face savings exercise’ by them.  “The Congress workers in particular and the people in general are the best judge about activities of such leaders, who have been rewarded more than they contributed to the party. It is unfortunate that instead of repaying back to the party, at a time when it was desired, they indulged in unwarranted activities for their own self at the cost of party interests,” he added.
Expressing full-faith and confidence in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the PCC chief spokesman said that Rahul Gandhi was tirelessly working to further strengthen the party in the country by fighting against the politics of communalism, castism and falsehood, for which he has the full backing of the entire rank and file of the party.
