JAMMU, Sept 21: Priya Sethi former Minister and National Executive Member Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today honoured Secretary, Red Cross, Satpal Sharma and his team for running a meaningful and vigorous vaccination campaign since outbreak of Covid-19 till date.
It is pertinent to mention here that Red Cross Society has played a very proactive role in augmenting this nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive. During today’s programme the volunteers having displayed exemplary performance in the vaccination campaign besides some officials of the Red Cross Society especially the nodal officers were honoured by the former Minister.
While addressing the gathering during a simple yet impressive function here today, the former Minister said that Red Cross in testing times led the campaign from the front especially during the peak pandemic time and it is because of such organizations that India successfully conducted the world’s largest vaccination drive that brought laurels to the nation. She said that the volunteers of the Red Cross Society especially in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir did a commendable work to achieve this feat under hostile conditions risking their lives.
She appreciated the Secretary Red Cross, Satpal Sharma and his team for efficiently handling the crisis situation during the pandemic.
Priya Sethi said that Red Cross not only played a vital role in the vaccination drive but also carried massive campaigns to make the people aware about the virus and dos and don’ts to be strictly followed for safeguarding the lives against the deadly virus in different variants. In fact the Red Cross had pressed its men and machinery including medicos, lab technicians, counselors etc deputing them in every nook and corner of this Union Territory and the organization continues its vaccination, awareness besides other campaigns in a mission mode.
She said that though the services provided by the Red Cross are priceless and today’s felicitation of the organization and its officials is a humble effort to offer token of gratitude to them for their selfless service in consonance with the principles and ideology of the Red Cross and its founder.
