Private telecom company abandons roads after digging

JAMMU, June 23: There is a brewing resentment among the people against the digging of roads by some private telecom companies in various parts of Jammu and abandoning the work after through entire muck on road side resulting into water logging and creating a lot of public nuisance.
The people in various bastis of Jammu have warned to come to streets in case immediate steps were not taken by the concerned agency to restore the roads dug by the private telecom companies for laying the Four G Cable. They said that the roads were dug during night by the contractors of the company and the muck has been thrown on road side causing lot of inconvenience to the people of these localities in their movement.
The situation turned worst in these localities after the heavy Monsoon rains during the last two days due to water logging on these roads after the blockage of drainage system resulting in public nuisance. The people apprehend that stacking of water in drains and cesspools of water which have emerged due to digging of roads in unplanned way can cause epidemic.
The people in these localities said that no agency owes responsibility of digging the roads. While approaching R&B for renovation of the roads they said that no permission has been sought by the company from it for digging the roads. There is such a confusion over the issue among the different departments that contractor mislead people as well as Government agencies regarding permission.
The people in these localities are in worst problem and have warned agitation in case immediate steps were not taken for repairing the roads. They alleged that it seems there is no Government worth in the State and every one is maintaining his monopoly in the system.
Meanwhile, district president BJP Rural Omi Khajuria and senior leader of the party Mukesh Sharma have in their separate appeals to Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and Minister of PWD Abdul Rehman Veeri have sought their immediate intervention in the matter in view of the growing resentment of the masses against the authorities who despite the repeated pleas have not taken any interest in renovating the damaged roads.
Khajuria said that the roads in Anuradhapuram Barnai, Muthi village and Swaran Vihar and Rajinder Nagar Bantalab have been totally damaged by the Telecom Company and need immediate repairs.
The Buta Nagar residents have expressed concern over the havoc created by the rains in the area Ward No 38 from street No 1 to 6. B S Jasrotia a local resident and a social activist said that rains create havoc in the area every year and the water enters into the houses of the people. He said the government till date has failed to solve the problem with the result people are facing many hardships. There is no proper drainage system and the rain water gets accumulated instead of flowing via drains, he added.
