Omar’s remarks exposed NC’s secular character: NCP

JAMMU, June 23: While condemning the remarks of former Chief Minister and top National Conference leader, Omar Abdullah  made in the State Assembly on Wednesday, former Minister and State president of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Thakur Randhir Singh today said that `so call’ secular character of the National Conference stood exposed before the people of the country and particularly from Jammu region.
In  meeting of State NCP held  here today  under the chairmanship of veteran leader and former Minister Th Randhir Singh,  the NCP functionaries  strongly condemned the irresponsible statement of Omar Abdullah in the Lower House at Srinagar while speaking during the discussion on allotment of grants for the departments held by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
” Omar made several bizarre remarks and one among them was that stone pelters in Kashmir waving ISIS and Pakistan flags are saints and Jammu youth are criminals, miscreants, who pelt stones. Omar went on saying that no FIR was registered against 22 people in Jammu who vandalized public property and damaged some vehicles,” NCP State chief said.
State NCP president appreciated the action taken by the State  Administration with the cooperation of the public and said that very serious situation was brought under control and there was no occasion for Omar Abdullah to raise such sensitive issue in the State Legislature  against the most secular and nationalist youth of Jammu to describe them miscreants and criminals when the J&K  is attracting tourists and particularly Shri  Amarnath ji yatra.
KK Digra vice president NCP J&K State and chairman NCP legal cell said that such statement issued by Omar Abdullah destroys the peaceful, nationalist and secular atmosphere of Jammu during the peak tourist season  and was shocked why the Legislatures from Jammu were quiet in the Assembly, they have sold their inner couscience  for sharing power in the State.
RS Billowaria-general secretary, RC Bali, Rattan Chand, Javed Rehman, Dr Liaqat Ali, Col Amar Singh and several others also condemned Omar’s remarks and questioned the silence of Jammu MLAs especially from BJP over this sensitive issue.
