Preventing corruption

In pursuance of a judgement from the State High Court, the State Government has initiated the process of arming all Additional District Judges with powers under Anti-Corruption Act. Rapidly increasing number of corruption cases brought for dispensation by the High Court, and dilution of justice owing to long pendency, have prompted Justice Attar to deliver a historic judgment that harkens society of the canker of corruption eating into its vitals. Now all Additional District Judges will have powers to handle corruption cases and thus minimize the burden on two Principles Courts and two Additional Courts that were the only courts hearing corruption cases so far. The Government is seeking concurrence of various departments and also the High Court that will enable the Law Department to issue proper orders empowering all Additional District Judges to handle corruption cases. We expect all these Judges to read the historic judgment of the High Court to which allusion has been made, and derive inspiration from it. We trust that they are all Judges of highest integrity and highly conscious of their constitutional and moral responsibility in preventing the social crime of corruption and steering the society safe to its destination. Corruption has got embedded in the layers of society and a drastic reformative movement alone will help wriggle out of its clutches.
