President condoles loss of lives in J-K bus accident

President Pranab Mukherjee today condoled the death of 21 people in a bus accident in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir and asked the State Government to provide all possible aid to families who lost their kin in the tragedy.
The President, who arrived here after a five-day visit to Russia, sent a message to State Governor N N Vohra expressing his condolence over the tragic bus accident.
Mukherjee said in his message, “I am saddened to learn that a bus carrying passengers met with an accident today in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir leading to the loss of lives and injury to many. I understand relief operations are currently underway.
“I call upon the State Government and other agencies to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families who have lost their near and dear ones as well as medical assistance to the injured,” the President was quoted in an official release as saying.
As many as 21 people were killed and at least 30 others were injured, six of them critically, when a bus they were travelling in rolled down into a deep gorge in Latti area of Udhampur district today. (AGENCIES)
