JAMMU, Feb 22: Kashmiri version of Ramayana and audio and visual presentation of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita in Kashmiri translated by late Sarwanand Koul Premi- a renowned poet and scholar were released at a function at Abhinav Theatre here this afternoon.
The function was presided over by Justice (retd) M L Koul who was the chief guest on the occasion, while MLC, G L Raina, VC Central University Jammu, Prof Ashok Aima, former DGP, Kuldeep Khuda, Swami Kumar Ji and K P Sabha president, K K Khosa and N C leader M K Yogi were the guests of honour on the occasion.
The welcome address was read by Ramesh Hangloo, president Pir Panchal and honorary Director, Radio Sharda FM 90.4. He said despite facing odds in last 30 years KPs excelled in every field with their decication to job & hard work. The stage was managed by Pran Nath Pandita (retd) SSP and a well known writer.
A detailed paper on the book was read by Prof. P N Trisal who termed the translation of Ramayana a great work of Late Premi.
In his presidential address Justice (retd) M L Koul paid glowing tributes to late Sarwanad Koul Premi and highly acclaimed his works. He said Premi was a great writer, scholar as well as a patriot and a true secularist who worked for the welfare of mankind irrespective of his religion and region till his last breath.
Justice Koul who became nostalgic said that Kashmiri Pandits suffered a lot due to the mass exodus in 1990 as they lost connection with their roots and the their motherland. He said on the one hand the pangs of migration worry the displaced Pandits while on the other hand separation from children who have to further migrate to different states for earning their livelihood has become unbearable for parents in their old age.
He said the community has been scattered and unfortunately it could not take any concrete step for its posterity and give a direction to them who are also going astray form their roots.
It may be recalled that Sarwanand Koul Premi along with his son Virender Koul attained martyrdom in 1990 as his philosophy of Hindu -Muslim brotherhood was not liked by the terrorists who ruled roost in Kashmir during those days.
The recording of audios and visuals were made by R K Bhan popularly known as Ravi Mech. The function was organized by Rajinder Premi son of late scholar along with Pir Panchal. Rajinder Premi has given the voice to audios and visuals also.
