SRINAGAR, June 18: Minister for R&B, Gardens, Parks and Floriculture, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today said that a project for beautification of historical Lal Chowk would be implemented shortly under which Pratap Park will be refurbished and redesigned in the first phase.
This was stated by the Minister during a meeting with members of Godfrey Philips India Ltd, headed by its Vice President, Hamarmjeet Singh and the Chairperson of Help Foundation (NGO), Nighat Shafi here.
Joint Director and Executive Engineer of Gardens, Parks and Floriculture department were also present.
The project funded by Godfrey Philips India Ltd and implemented by Help Foundation (NGO) involves landscaping of Pratap Park by redesigning it on modern lines and making it attractive with necessary facilities.
Demonstrating the blueprint of the project, Qazi Qamar, Urban Landscaping Architect engaged for the job, said that all season plants would be planted in the Park mostly those having dust absorbing character. He said the pedestrian movement on both the sides of the park would be made hassle free. He said the landmark identity and surroundings of the Park have been kept in mind, while designing its new landscape.
The Minister asked the implementing agency to develop the Park in such a manner that people can come in the evening also. He also asked them to install proper lighting systems in the Park. The Minister asked them to complete the job within the shortest time.
