JAMMU, Mar 26: Jammu and Kashmir Police, under its modernization scheme has launched a mega construction programme to strengthen its building infrastructure across the State.
In this regard several buildings, barracks and alternate accommodations have been constructed at various locations. In order to house different head offices, the Organization has been constructing multi storey buildings in the twin capital cities of the State.
This was disclosed by the Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad,after laying the foundation stone of modern Crime Branch Headquarters at Channi Rama here today.
On the occasion, Prasad said that during past some years a huge building infrastructure has been raised in all the districts of the State and many construction works are under execution which would house the police offices including headquarters of different wings and armed battalions. He said that under the scheme, the Organization has been constructing residential accommodations as well with the aim to enhance living and working facilities for all ranks of the department.
The DGP discussed the plan with the ADGP (Headquarters) S. P. Vaid, MD Police Housing Corporation (PHC), Dilbag Singh and Superintending Engineer, PHC, Omar Farooq, who briefed the DGP about the different aspects of the plan.
Prasad, while discussing the architect plan, stressed upon the officers and executing agency to adhere to all guidelines framed by PHQ and ensure use of quality material in the construction. He said that any modification during the construction, if requirement demands, should be made only after consulting the experts. The construction should be completed within the time frame in order to avoid fluctuation in the estimated cost, said Prasad. He disclosed that a similar complex would be constructed at Srinagar also for which land has already been identified.
DGP also convened a meeting with the officers on the spot and gave details of the mega construction plan under taken by the Organization. He said that during past one decade, special thrust has been given to raise large constructions in every corner of the State, which include office buildings, residential quarters, barracks and other structures to house the offices and provide better living accommodation to the jawans and officers.
The DGP was accompanied by IGPs, A K Choudhary, H K Lohia, SJM Geelani, Alok Puri, Muneer Ahmed Khan, Dr. KK Saini and Rajesh Kumar, DIG, Shakeel Ahmed Beig, SSPs, Nissar Ahmed, Manmohan Singh, Mir Mohammad Choudhary, Mirza Amjad Parvaiz, RP Chalotra, Executive Engineer, PHC, BA Rather and SPs, Rajeshwar Singh and Shalinder Kumar and other police officers.
