JAMMU, Aug 3: Union Education Minister, Dharmindra Pradhan on the intervention of Dr Jitendra Singh Minister of State in PMO with Independent Charge of Science and Technology has issued instructions to concerned authorities to change the centre of Central University Entrance Test (CUET) of students for Udhampur candidates.
Dr Jitendra Singh in his tweet said that he took up the issue with Union Education Minister, Dharmindra Pradhan after the same was brought to his notice by J&K BJP president, Ravinder Raina who informed Dr Jitendra Singh that the Examination Centre for Central University Entrance Test (CUET) aspirants from Udhampur being conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) has surprisingly been established at Gouripora, Srinagar which is in the vicinity of Hyderpora an utterly unsafe place for students, especially in view of forthcoming Independence Day. Raina has expressed apprehension that a big group of Jammu may God forbid become an easy target of miscreants.
In his letter Raina has also stated that tests are starting from August 5, this year. Though the aspirants tried to contact the NTA but to no avail as their contact numbers were not functional. They have not also provided any contact of any concerned person nor email for clarification of queries.
Raina said it seems that there is some misunderstanding that Udhampur is in Kashmir.
He stated that there is one more major problem that NTA has issued schedule till August 6 only, and each candidate is having tests on two days. If a candidate has test on August 6, he /she has not been told where his/ her test venue on August 7 will be, for which the schedule will be issued later. This is a very possibility that candidates will miss their exams. Parents are scared to send to send their sons and daughters to this unsafe place. There is very possibility that in the present scenario many students will not be able to appear in their tests owing to security issue, distance, inconvenience, expenditure, accommodation etc.
The letter said that it is being felt that there is a deliberate attempt to reduce the number of aspirants from Udhampur which shall be an injustice with the nationalist and peace loving people of Udhampur, which is located in Jammu province of UT of J&K whereas Gouripora is in Kashmir.
The letter demanded that the issue be taken up with NTA to rectify the anomaly and reestablish the Centre at Udhampur or any other nearby place.
In another tweet Dr Jitendra Singh said that arrangements are being made to carry the mortal remains of Sepoy Sukhjinder Singh of 11 JKLI of Suchetgarh Jammu who lost his life in a land slide in Uttarakhand to his native place. Dr Jitendra Singh in this regard has approached Army authorities and has also established contact with DC Uttarkashi, Abhishek Ruhela. The inputs in this regard were received by Union Minister from national secretary BJP, Dr Narinder Singh.
