The spokesman of the J&K Central Non-Gazetted Electrical Employees Union (JKCNGEEU), Parshotam Sharma (gen secy) and Umar Bhat said that the implementation of new Labour laws is against the interests of thousands of workers who work tirelessely to earn their livelihood, But they are being exploited by the regimes with flawed policies. This has given rise to the urban capitalism.
They said instead of providing any relief and take rehabilitation measures for these poor and helpless workers hit by Coronavirus pandemic, the Government of India is experimenting with the introduction of new laws and bringing unnecessary changes to exploit the poor labour class only. This is sheer attempt to plunder the basic rights of these poor workers who have been living in miserable condition.
They further pointed out that many daily wagers engaged with various departments are working tirelessly to ensure smooth functioning of the system and its establishment but these changes in laws and policies of the Government are purely intended to further push these labourers and workers to hardships. They said the Government has already unbundled the JK Power development Department into various Corporations and how the entire Power privatization would be both anti-employee and anti-consumer move. The next step would be rise in tariff and duty on electricity by private companies, who are none else than capitalistic exploiters bothered about their profit only. The consumer will be badly affected with this move, they maintained.
