JAMMU, May 30: To ensure hassle free power supply and restoration of damaged power structure within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal limits, the Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla today said that under Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Program (R-APDRP), the power scenario in municipal limits will be upgraded. In this regard, he directed the PDD to gear up its men and machinery.
This was informed by the Minister while interacting with people of Bhour Camp, Chatha Pind and Chatha Mill after assessing their power related problems, here today.
Chief Engineer M&RE Shahnaz Goni, Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board Ram Paul Sharma, Executive Engineer PDD besides other senior officers from PDD accompanied the Minister.
Mr. Bhalla asked the accompanying officers to immediately replace the worn out wires and steel poles from Bhour Camp W. No. 2 to avoid untoward incident in the area. He called upon the people to get their power connections regularized to get un-interrupted power supply. He said Government was committed to provide regular power supply in metered areas of the State.
The Minister informed that second phase of R-APDRP costing Rs 1700 crore is aimed at improving power distribution system in targeted 30 towns and cities including Srinagar and Jammu. He said Government is formulating a project report for extension of R-APDRP to towns and other areas where under an area (town and village) with a population of 4,000 and above is proposed to be covered.
Responding to the demand of locals, he asked the PDD officers to provide 30 poles to ensure improved power supply in peripheral areas of the Bhour Camp.
