Court grants bail to Nagar Singh, ex-SP Jail in supari killing case

JAMMU, May 30: 2nd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Nighat Sultana today granted bail to Choudhary Nagar Singh, Mirza Saleem Beigh, the then Superintendent Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal and his PSO Surinder Kumar in the much publicized supari killing case.
After hearing Senior Advocate RS Thakur, Advocates RK Kotwal and Vikukash Anand appearing for the petitioners whereas APP KA Qazi appearing for the State, 2nd Additional Sessions Judge observed, “in the present case the accused are facing trial where the punishment is prescribed seven years and the accused are in custody for the last more than three years and most of the witnesses in supplementary challan stand recorded”.
“At present there is no chance of the accused/petitioners, if released on bail, shall tamper with the evidence”, the court said and granted bail to the applicants and ordered to be released subject to the furnishing of surety and personal bond to the tune of Rs 1 lakh each to the satisfaction of this Court.
“They, however, shall not leave the jurisdiction of Jammu district without the prior permission of this Court. Moreover, the applicants shall not directly or indirectly make any inducement threat or promise to any person acquainted with the facts of the case so as to dissuade him to disclose such fact to the court or to any other authority”, 2nd Additional Sessions Judge said, adding “they shall remain present in the court on every date of hearing”.
