JAMMU, Dec 28: The power consumers held a meeting under the banner of Channi Himmat Residents Association (CHRA), which was chaired by its president VK Grover.
During the meeting, Grover said despite State/Bank holidays on December 25, 26 and 27, due date for payment of electricity dues as noted on computer bills raised for the month of December 2015 remained the same and the J&K Bank branches did not accept payments without penal interest.
He said that if the last date of payment happens to be Sunday or a gazetted holiday, no interest, penalty or any additional amount should be charged.
He asked the PDD to give credit in the January bill of the penal interest charged in December bills and also ensure that last date does not coincide with Sunday or public holidays in future.
