Population problem

Sir,
During his Independence Day speech on the ramparts of Red fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a pitch for population control. This issue, which is very important, has never been given importance by the previous governments, though population control campaigns were launched in 80’s throughout the country. India is growing at a rapid pace, so are the problems.
In case population is not controlled right now, it will have serious ramifications. The Government must now embark on redressing this issue at the earliest. There is need to consult NGOs, health experts, social and religious organisations to chalk out a strategy in this regard. The population boom is putting a huge burden on health, education and other allied sectors. The unchecked population will put pressure on natural resources, land and water. Before the situation may spin out of control, it is better that it is contained right now.
