Udhampur, June 27: Police recovered 3 kg 400 gms poppy straw (Bhuki) from two drug peddlers at Panchari, Udhampur.
The accused have been identified as Joginder Kumar, son of Romail Chand of Kalsote and Dev Raj, son of Jodh Ram of Dubi Gali, Tehsil and district Udhampur.
Reports said that based on reliable information regarding Narcotics smuggling, a surprise naka was laid by the Police Party of Police Station Panchari near Kainth Galli Panchari and started the checking of vehicles.
During checking, police party intercepted one bus bearing registration No. JK02F/267 on its way from Moungri towards Udhampur and subjected it to thorough search. During search of the bus, 03 Kgs 400 gms of poppy straw (Bhuki) was recovered from the said vehicle from the possession of two drug peddlers namely who were transporting the contraband from Panchari towards Udhampur.
Both accused were arrested on the spot and vehicle seized. In this connection, a case FIR No. 26/2013 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Panchari.
