JAMMU, Jan 24: A deputation of J&K Polytechnic Colleges faculty today met with the Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Darbu and apprised him about the present situation regarding implementation of AICTE pay scales along with ASC career progression.
The faculty members revealed that the Polytechnic Institutes of the State are AICTE recognised and follow the guidelines of the AICTE except the AICTE recommended pay structure. AICTE is the Apex Body which governs the regulations under which Technical Institutions have to function including the pay structure of faculty and other staff. But the AICTE recommended pay scales have not been implemented in the State and the faculty has been struggling for last more than 25 years for its implementation while it has been implemented in most of the States, they added.
They added that the Government has modified and accepted pay structure of all levels in education sector like teaches, lecturers of Higher Secondary Schools, faculty of Degree Colleges and even ITI’s, but has left the Polytechnic sector. Due to non implementation of these scales many competent faculty members leave the department which adversely affected the quality of the training programmes, they stated.
The delegation informed that the Minister that in this concern the Minister for Technical Education, YSS and IT Imran Raza Ansari has agreed to implement the AICTE scales in polytechnics and has already recommended the same for consideration to the Finance Department, and the matter recommended by the Technical Education Department is pending for disposal in the office of Director Codes since November 2017.
The deputation requested the Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu to pass necessary directions for implementation of AICTE pay scales and service conditions to polytechnic faculty along with career progression at an earliest.
The Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu gave patient hearing to the deputation and assured that the matter will be resolved within shortest possible time and called the Director Codes with the desired file for healthy discussions.
