Political, social organizations welcome abrogation of Art 370

JAMMU, Aug 8: Various political and social organizations including J&K Human Rights Watch have welcomed scrapping of various provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution by the Central Government.
Hailing the move of the Central Government, Chairman, J&K Human Rights Watch, BL Kapoor, in a statement said that abrogation of Article 370 has made equality among the people of the nation as a whole. He said this move of the Union Government is not beneficial to some particular community but for all as it would bring normalcy, prosperity and progress in all spheres of life.
Vikram Malhotra, District Congress president in statement issued here today said that while he appreciates the move to abrogate article 370 in the larger interest of the country but is against splitting of the State into two union territories.
“Central Government has let down the people of Jammu in the whole bargain by splitting the State into two union territories. Dogras have lost their identity by merely making the State of Jammu Kashmir to a union territory,” Malhotra said and urged upon the Government to restore the glory of Dogras by giving statehood to Jammu and Kashmir with safe guards such as domicile rights in terms of land purchase and securing jobs for the already suffering people of Jammu.
Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), while welcoming the Centre’s decision, said that the success of this historic achievement goes in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. This will be written in Golden letter in the history to come. The party said that BJP MPs from J&K Jugal Kishore Sharma and Dr Jitendra Singh, while speaking on the issue in parliament, completely ignored the Sikh community living in the State. He urged them to take cognizance of problems of Sikh community and try to mitigate them.
National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) State president Rajesh Gupta in a statement issued here hailed the historic and bold decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Tough situations need difficult decisions in national interest and Modi has proved time and again that he has the political courage and intellectual vision to take such decisions,” Gupta added.
While welcoming abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, Citizen’s Forum has demanded from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has scripted a new history for the country, to make provision for separate equal funds for Jammu region and Kashmir region, after completing the reorganization of the assembly constituencies under delimitation.
The state unit of Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad (AHP), Rashtriya Bajrang Dal also welcomed the decision. The Parishad leaders said that people of Jammu and Ladakh were being discriminated since independence in all respects and they have gained independence in true sense now after the abrogation of Article 370.
General Category People’s Forum, Jammu, while expressing happiness on abrogation of controversial article, said during last 70 years, Kashmir centric J&K Governments have misused Article 370 and 35-A for their vested interests. “Abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A would herald in an era of equal development as this article was cause of entire mess in J&K,” president of the Forum, Yash Paul Sanson, said in a statement. He, however, expressed regret for not granting full-fledged statehood status to Jammu region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have given a new life to public of J&K and particularly to Valmiki community of Jammu by abrogating Article 370 and splitting the State into union territories,” Om Bhagwan Valmiki Namah Organization said in a written statement. He said generations of Valmiki Biradari will ever remember this noble cause which has united the whole India under one flag.
Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha said that by abrogating Article 370 and 35-A, PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have given a golden reward to the people of J&K and have fulfilled the dreams of Jan Sangh founder Shyama Prasad Mookerjee in true sense.
Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) president, RK Bhat has also hailed Government’s decision to abrogate Article 370.
