UDHAMPUR, Aug 8: Reiterating the demand of separate Statehood for Jammu region, NPP President and former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia today expressed reservations over the present arrangement in re-organization of the J&K State.
“From the last 70 years, patriotic people of Jammu region were facing discrimination due to Kashmiri leadership and now Central Government has again left Jammu linked with Kashmir, which hurts the sentiments of patriotic Dogras,” he said in a statement, issued.
Mankotia reminded that the Panthers Party in Assembly as well as on roads, had already raised the issues, including Re-organisation of State, 5- year Assembly tenure, dissolution of Legislative Council, property rights to women, citizenship rights to West Pakistani refugees, Delimitation commission, one nation one flag, one nation one law, complete rights to Panchayats and Local Body, reservation for Schedule Tribes etc.
He appreciated the decision of Central Government on resolving maximum issues in one stoke but also demanded Statehood for Jammu region along with domicile and Article 371 on the pattern of Himachal Pradesh.
