JAMMU, Aug 8: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Sindhu Sharma has sought time-schedule for completion of expansion of Jammu airport’s runway.
The direction in this regard was passed in a Public Interest Litigation filed by Advocate Ravi Abrol seeking upgradation of Jammu airport at par with the international airports.
After hearing Advocate General DC Raina for the State whereas Advocate Inderjeet Gupta for the Airport Authority of India, DB directed AAI to apprise the court about the time schedule during which expansion of runway will be completed. The DB also sought present status of the expansion work.
Earlier, Advocate General on the instructions from Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, submitted that whatever land was required for expansion of runway, the possession thereof was handed over to the Airport Authority of India in August 2018.
This was not disputed by counsel appearing for the Airport Authority of India and he sought time to apprise the court about the time schedule during which expansion of runway will be completed.
