Political parties celebrate Independence Day

JAMMU, Aug 16: Various political parties celebrated Independence Day with national fervour, patriotism and enthusiasm across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir unit celebrated the Independence Day with fervour along with its senior leaders hoisting the National Flags in every area and region of the Jammu & Kashmir.
The BJP activists kept themselves busy this time while distributing the National Flags in every area making “Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan” a grand success.
At party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, the mother of Kargil war martyr -Major Ajay Jasrotia hoisted the National Flag in presence of J&K BJP president, Ravinder Raina, former Dy Chief Minister of J&K, Kavinder Gupta and other senior leaders of the party.
At party office Kachi Chawni, former minister Sat Sharma and former MP, Shamsher Singh Manhas accompanied by other senior leaders hoisted the National flag.
At historical City Chowk, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, J&K BJP vice president Yudhvir Sethi, former minister Priya Sethi accompanied by other senior leaders of the party hoisted National flag.
Ravinder Raina, while addressing the jubilant gathering present on the occasions said that the India got its freedom from the colonial rule after large number of persons made sacrifices. He said that on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was undertaken by the masses. He said that the campaign has seen unparallel enthusiasm from the masses and sparked a new spirit of patriotism among the youth. He also took the liberty to salute every patriot, every soldier who laid down their lives for the Nation.
Jugal Kishore Sharma wished every Indian and especially the residents of J&K on the Independence Day and said that the population of Jammu and Kashmir is celebrating “Swatantrata Diwas” with passion. He said that this is a very pious occasion for every Indian when we got independence after a hard struggle and many sacrifices.
Kavinder Gupta also extended greetings to the party workers and the public on the occasion of Independence Day. He said that the people must celebrate National days by inculcating the sense of the patriotism, work sincerely for the National building and strive for peace and harmony in the country.
J&K BJP general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, led the party celebrations in Kashmir. He said that on the day, we must pledge to work with commitment for the new India free from corruption, Illiteracy, casteism, communalism, terrorism, malnutrition and unemployment.
BJP Jammu District unit under the leadership of  its president Vinay Gupta along with former DyCM Kavinder Gupta, former minister Priya Sethi, party vice president Yudhvir Sethi, Mandal presidents Neeraj Puri, Bharat Bhushan and Praveen Kerni hoisted the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day at different locations in Jammu  district including Gandhi Nagar, Satwari and Jammu East Mandals, respectively. Sethi also hoisted national flag at several other places including, Pacca Danga, Jullahaka Mohalla, Residency Road, Talab Khatikan, Bus Stand, Dogra Chowk, Mohalla Paharian, Rehari Chungi and Circular Road.
BJP senior leader and Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma along with Sanatam Dharam Sabha president Parshotam  Dalichi  hoisted the National flag at Ward No. 1 along with a large number of people joined the celebrations to mark the 75 years of India’s independence.
Deputy Mayor extended greetings to the general public on the occasion and congratulated them to make the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign a big hit by hoisting the tricolor on their houses.
Senior BJP leader Baldev Singh Billawaria hoisted National flag at several places in RS Pura and Jammu south constituency, including Kunjwani, Babliana, Bandhurakh, Jeevan Nagar, Model Town and Belicharana in presence of several party leaders and activists to mark the day on Monday. He also paid tributes to freedom fighters and also recalled their sacrifices.
Senior BJP leader and Corporator from Ward No. 25, Arun Khanna hoisted National flag in presence of prominent persons of the area at Rehari Colony, Sarwal Chowk and Kolti Colony to Mark the Independence Day celebrations on Monday. The sweets were also distributed on the occasion.
BJP leader and Corporator from Ward No. 35, Yash Paul Sharma (Mantu), hoisted National flag at Maing Bazar Janipur and Shant Nagar besides adjoining localities in presence of locals of the area, to mark the Independence Day celebrations. He also addressed the gatherings.
Senior BJP leader and Corporator, Ward No. 36, Subhash Sharma hoisted National flag at main Lakad Mandi Chowk and Daily Excelsior Lane, in Janipur area of Jammu North in presence of prominent persons of the area to mark the Independence Day celebrations on Monday. Rich tributes were paid to the freedom fighters and sweets were also distributed on the occasion.
J&K Pradesh Congress celebrated 75th year of Independence, urging the Nation to gear up for united 100-years celebrations of India’s independence to exhibit the true sense of diversity, communal harmony and togetherness in the country.
JKPCC president Ghulam Ahmad Mir flanked by working president Raman Bhalla and rank and file of the party unfurled the Tricolour in Jammu followed by National Anthem. Congress leaders exchanged greetings and distributed sweets on this occasion while celebrating the 75th Independence with great enthusiasm.
Speaking on the occasion, PCC chief greeted the Nation and rank file of the Congress Party on 75th year of independence, terming the day as an outcome of the sacrifices given by the freedom fighters, who laid down their lives to achieve freedom to restore the dignity and honour of the Nation.
Mir lauded the great contributions of Congress Party to the freedom struggle and inclusive development of the country after Independence and said it is the Congress Party under first Prime Minister Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru who took the prestige of the Nation to the heights while building the Nation brick by brick. He said the true Independence celebration is to respect the democratic institutions, which stands guarantees to people’s rights, unity and harmony, but unfortunately the current ruling dispensation  in the country has ruined the institutions to serve their vested interests.
“The 75the year of Independence should sent a message that India can no longer  afford to see that democratic institutions are weakened  or compromised for a particular person or party  and should be strengthened to ensure that the Constitution which allows freedom of speech and expression is further strengthened, which is the beauty of world’s largest democracy(India),” Mir said.
Former Legislators, PCC office bearers, DCC presidents, Frontals and prominent Party workers participated in the celebrations.
Meanwhile Congress leaders and workers unfurled the Tricolour at Srinagar Party office and celebrated 75the year of Independence. PCC office bearers, former Legislators, DCC presidents, Frontal organizations and various other senior leaders and workers joined the celebrations. They greeted each other and distributed sweets followed by National Anthem.
District general secretary Congress and president Beopar Mandal, Gurmeet Singh as chief guest, SHO Kirti Sharma as guest of honour along with other eminent persons including Ward president Hardavinder Singh unfurled the National flag on the occasion of Independence day at different locations at Shahidi Chowk, Ward No 5 Jammu East and at the Back Side of DC office, Ward No.3, Jammu, respectively.
Ravinder Sharma, (Ex-MLC) Member AICC and  chief spokesperson JKPCC unfurled the National Flag at Main Bazar Sunderbani town, in district Rajouri to celebrate the 75th  Republic Day. A large number of prominent citizens and leaders of Congress, Youth Congress attended the function. Halwa and  sweets were shared on the occasion.
Sharma gave the message of peace, harmony and religious brotherhood to the people imbibed our secular and progressive constitution. He asked people to reject hatred and violence in any form and promote constitutional values to strengthen the nation. He warned that religious and caste conflicts and violence would retard our peace, progress and prosperity.
The function was attended by the Block presidents, prominent citizens and large number of Congress workers.
PCC general secretary and former MLA, Thakur Balwan Singh hoisted National flag in Marh on the occasion of Independence Day on Monday. The function in this connection was organized by Corporator Ward No. 72, Rachhpal Bhardwaj and several prominent persons of the area were present. Tributes were also paid to those who sacrificed their lives during freedom struggle.
PYC chief Uday Bhanu Chib hoisted National flag in Ward No. 60 and 38 in Jammu North constituency along with other party activists and locals of the area. Tributes were paid to the freedom fighters and other sacrificed their lives for the cause of the country’s freedom. Chib also addressed the gatherings, remembering the sacrifices of Rani Laxmi Bhai, Chander Shekhar Azad, Udam Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chander Bose, JL Nehru and many others.
National Conference president and Lok Sabha Member from Srinagar Farooq Abdullah on Monday hoisted the National flag at his residence on the high security Gupkar Road Srinagar to celebrate the country’s Independence Day.
Abdullah, who had tested COVID positive last week, unfurled the National flag at a function that was attended by his staff and security personnel.
Addressing the gathering, Abdullah said while the nation has come a long way from the time it got independence, there were challenges before it even now.
“We have come a long way from the time when we would import substandard food from the US. Today, we are producing more food grain than we need. We have provided food assistance to Afghanistan several times,” he added.
Abdullah said even on the political front, when one of India’s neighbouring country—Maldives— was attacked by terrorists, Indian Army went there and repulsed the attack.
“ We did not occupy that country. We helped it and handed it back to its people,” he added.
The NC president said there were challenges before the country even today as many things are still imported from other countries.
The leader lauded the security personnel and prodded them to stay alert against elements that want to “grab our land.”
On the eve of Independence Day former minister and Zonal (Central) president Babu Rampaul in presence of Dr Vikas Sharma Coordinator Jammu district Urban and secretary Central Zone JKNC and Satpaul Shabotra besides Aslam Choudhary secretary Central Zone JKNC, hoisted the National Flag in a function held here.
Rampaul spoke on the spirit of nationalism, integrity, peace and brotherhood. He paid tributes to all the freedom fighters as it happened only because of their struggle and sacrifice.
The Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) celebrated the Independence Day by hoisting the National flag, amidst heavy downpour at their Central office 27 –A/C, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. PK Ganju working president hoisted the flag and the National Anthem was sung by all those present on the occasion.
Amongst the senior leaders who participated include-Capt Anil Gour, Jahangir Khan, Ravinder Jamwal, Surinder Wahi, Kulbhushan Attri and Hakim Din.
Nationalist Congress Party, J&K unit celebrated Independence Day at Party office Jammu. National joint secretary of the party and spokesperson Rishi Kilam hoisted national flag and addressed the gathering in presence other party leaders. He recalled the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and other top leaders and paid them tributes. J&K unit vice president TK Kaul and general secretary RS Ballowaria also spoke on the occasion.
AAP activists led by Sandeep Singh Chib and locals of the area hoisted tricolor in Ward No. 32, amidst nationalist sloganeering and distribution of sweets. Tributes were also paid to the freedom fighters and those who attained supreme sacrifice for the cause of the nation.
