Policeman stabbed by unknown miscreants

JAMMU, Jan 14: A constable of J&K police was stabbed today by two unknown persons in Bagh-e-Bahu area of city outskirts.
“Constable Ashok Singh son of Kesar Singh, resident of Ramban, who was presently posted at police station Bagh-e-Bahu, along with another constable, went to Gorkha Nagar this afternoon after receiving a call from a local that two unknown persons are wandering in the area in suspicious condition”, a police official said.
He said when both the constables reached the spot and intercepted the suspects for questioning, one of the suspects threw chilly powder in the eyes of the constables and other attacked them with a sharp edged weapon (kirch).
The official said in the attack, one of the constables escaped unhurt while Constable Ashok Singh (belt No 1501/J) received injury on his back. He was immediately rushed to Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, from where he was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
According to SHO, Bagh-e-Bahu, Inspector Satish Kumar, a case in this connection was registered and efforts were on to identify/arrest the culprits.
