Lal Singh lays foundation of Rs 1.8 cr development works

BASOHLI, Jan 14: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh today laid foundation stones of Rs 1.8 crore development works at Lower Shara, Kakroah Plani, Bhikar, Sialog, Draman, Dhanna, Janno and Hutt of Basohli constituency and assessed public grievances in these areas.
He also distributed Rs 6 lakh among 100 households as first installment under Swachh Bharat Mission for construction of latrines in Basohli constituency.
Addressing a gathering at Hutt village, the Minister said that Government has prepared a comprehensive plan for Basohli town under R&B and RDD sectors to provide enhanced basic amenities to the people, adding that there is no constraint of funds in developing the across constituency with modern civic amenities.
Choudhary Lal Singh said that Government’s first and foremost priority is to make provision of better basic amenities in every nook and corner of the State and areas like Basohli are receiving focused attention on this account.
Referring to the development of Basohli constituency, the Minister said work on various developmental projects is in full swing. He said with the completion of these projects is definitely going to change socio-economic condition of the people of the area. He informed that the State Government has submitted projects worth Rs 180 crore to the Central Government for the development of Ranjit Sagar Dam and other identified areas as major tourist destinations.
The Minister also visited the sites of ongoing developmental works in interiors of Basohli Constituency and asked the concerned executing agencies to expedite the pace of work on these projects and complete them in a stipulated time frame.
During the tour, locals put forth their demands including providing of adequate drinking water and power supply. Choudhary Lal Singh gave them patient hearing and resolved several issues on the spot. He also asked the officers to look into other issues for an early redressal.
The Minister directed the district administration to meet the fixed targets in a time bound manner and utilize the earmarked funds for current fiscal in full so that no area would remain without development.
Among others, Chief Conservator of Forests Farooq Gillani, Managing Director SFC Suresh Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner Basohli Sanjay Gupta, Assistant Commissioner Development Rajeev Khajuria besides other senior officers of district administration were accompanied the Minister during his tour.
