KATHUA, Dec 9: Kathua Police has rescued 13 bovine animals at two different places during the routine nakas today and also seized the two trucks carrying them.
According to police eight bovine animals were rescued by Hatli Police falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kathua this morning during a routine naka near Nagar Hat. These animals were being smuggled from Punjab to Kashmir.
However the inmates of the vehicle managed to escape seeing the police. The Hatli Police has registered a case under cruelty to Animals Act.
In another case 5 bovine animals were rescued by Lakhanpur Police at Lakhanpur which too were being smuggled from Punjab to Kashmir during a routine naka.
The truck carrying these animals was seized but the smugglers managed to escape giving a slip to the police. The Lakhanpur Police has registered a case also.
Eight bovine animals were also rescued by Kathua police yesterday after a truck carrying them from Punjab was trapped in Ravi river. The smugglers seeing that the truck can’t move they fled from the spot and left the bovine animals there. The police later took the animals into its custody and also seized the truck. It has also registered a case in this regard.
