Police rescue people trapped in inclement weather

UDHAMPUR, Jan 25: Amidst inclement weather, Udhampur Police carried out a rescue operation late last night and saved lives of six persons of a family, including a woman, who were trapped in heavy snow storm at Chochru Galla Top and Khaned Top of Basantgarh.
According to Police, a distress call was received by SHO Basantgarh, Insp Sohan Singh around 8 pm last night that some of the family members of the caller were stuck at higher reaches of Basantgarh area (Chochru Galla Top and Khaned Top). These people were coming from Himachal Pradesh via Malhar of Kathua district and were trapped due to heavy snowfall.
After receiving the information, a police team led by SHO Basantgarh under the supervision of Addl SP Udhampur Anwaar-Ul-Haq and SDPO Ramnagar, Dr Bhishm Dubey swung into action and walked for kms through rough snow filled foggy terrain and reached the site after two hours.
Police team safely rescued all the trapped people who were then brought to Police Post Shang where they were provided food, shelter and medicare facilities.
Today these people were reunited with their families. General public of the area has appreciated the role of police for providing helping hand to the needy people in the inclement weather.
