JAMMU, Jan 5: The police pensioners today held a demonstration near Press Club, in protest against the discrimination with them with regard to pay grade.
A large number of retired Police personnel under the banner of Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum, led by Ajit Singh (president), assembled at Press Club near main Tawi bridge during the day today and started protest demonstration. They were demanding removal of anomaly in their pay grades. They said that the Forum was projecting this issue since long and many times representations were given to the IGPs, DGPs and to the J&K Finance Department in the past but expect false assurances, nothing has been done in this regard.
Ajit Singh further pointed out that Pay Anomaly Committees were also framed from time to time and they have also given their opinion and Finance department had sought some clarification from the office of DGP and that too, stands submitted, but despite this all, the justice has not been provided to the retired police men of Non-Gazetted cadre. He demanded that time bound grade should be given in Armed and IRP like District Police which has not been given till date.
Singh pointed out that special pay was given to all the Government employees deployed on election duty recently but it is unfortunate that Police personnel were ignored which is grave injustice with them. He also demanded setting up of one more Women Cell/ Police Station in Jammu in view of increasing number of cases and the pendency there.
