Police organize debate on Human Rights

SRINAGAR, Mar 25: A debate competition on Human Rights, “Respect for Human Rights contributes professionalism in Police” was held at Zonal Police headquarters here.
The duties of the chairman were performed by S. M Afzal Qadri, Ex HoD and Dean Faculty of law, University of Kashmir.
Speaking on the inaugural address, A G Mir, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, stressed upon the fact that basic job of a police officer in essence is protection of Human Rights of the citizens. At the same time, cops have to ensure that no rights are violated while performing their duties.
Mir said, “Police should extend all possible help to the victims of crime and must do everything in competence to prosecute the criminals and do justice with the victims as that will ensure protection of Human Rights.”
Senior Police officers of Zonal Police Headquarters and District Srinagar also participated in the function. IPG Kashmir distributed prizes among the winners. DySP Zaffar Iqbal Nawaz won the first prize, DySP Syed Javed Ahmad and PSI Azam stood second and PSI Amjad Ali won the third prize. Among the teams, PD Handwara and District Pulwama were declared first and second respectively.
