KATRA, Feb 2: Police today foiled an attempt of smuggling illicit liquor to the holy town and arrested a bootlegger.
A police team, led by SHO Katra, Inspector Arvind Sambyal, was on patrolling duty in the town when they intercepted a Qualis vehicle, bearing registration number .JK02V/ 7938 near Chintamani Temple Katra. During checking, the Police team succeeded in recovery of 115 Poly pouches, measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K Excise liquor from the possession of driver of the vehicle, identified as Upinder Singh of Bhaga Reasi.
Police arrested the accused driver and seized the recovered liquor as well as the vehicle. In this connection, a case FIR number 18/2017 U/S 48-A Excise Act, 188/RPC has been registered at Police Station Katra.
