Police foil 2 attempts of bovine smuggling; 30 animals rescued

UDHAMPUR, Mar 15: Udhampur Police today foiled two attempts of bovine smuggling at Rehambal and rescued 30 animals besides arresting an accused.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that based on some reliable information, a Police party led by SHO Rehambal. Inspector Ajay Bhat, under the supervision of Rohit Chadgal, Dy.SP Hqrs. Udhampur, laid a surprise naka on the National Highway near Flata Chowk Udhampur and intercepted one truck bearing Registration number. JK03F-5629.
During the checking of said vehicle, 14 bovine animals were found loaded in this vehicle without any permission. All the bovine animals were rescued and the accused driver namely Showkat Ahmed, son of Ghulam Hassan of Kulgam was arrested on the spot while the vehicle was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR number .45/2019 U/S 188, RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is going on.
In another success, Police party of PS Rehambal stopped one vehicle bearing registration number JK14B-4277 and rescued 16 bovine animals, which were bundled inside. However driver of the vehicle fled away from the spot by taking advantage of heavy traffic on the road.
In this connection a case FIR number 44/2019 U/S 188 RPC, 3PCA Act has been registered at PS Rehambal and further investigation is going on.
