Number of local people assembled there to support the police action as they were already scared of anti social elements and drug peddlers.
The Sarpanch of Panchayat Badala, Hem Raj said that some people of Chack Darabkhan and Kulian are involved in illegal business of illicit liquor and now they are promoting sale of Chita, Ganja, Opium and other narcotics.
He said that the drug addicts drawn from Jammu, Kathua, Pathankot, Amritsar in Punjab are often visiting here to purchase the narcotics. Due to that the crime rate is increasing and drug peddlers now dare to loot the passers by on the point of sharp edge weapons. The locals are living under terrible circumstances and did not move after evening hours as they feel insecure.
The local people said that a police post is already setup in the area. But due to shortage of man power it can’t give effective results. They asked the Police Department to depute appropriate number of police personnel and start patrolling in the area keeping in the past crime record of the people.
The police is investigating the matter.
