JAMMU, Sept 26: Police today organised an awareness programme on drug abuse at Govt. Degree College Bishnah which was presided over by Farooq Qaiser, SP Headquarters Jammu.
About 300 students of Govt. Degree College Bishnah, Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Bishnah and Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Bishnah attended the programme.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion include Prof. Archana Bakshi, Principal Govt. Degree College Bishnah, Amrit Kour, Principal Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Bishnah, Neeru Sachar, Principal Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Bishnah and Inspector Deepak Pathania, SHO P/S Bishnah. The students and teachers of the participating institutions spoke on the occasion. The purpose of the programme was to create awareness among the students, which happen to be the most vulnerable group, about the drug menace and the need to fight against it.
Qaiser advised the students to stay away from drugs and assured all kinds of co-operation from Police in this regard. Participants were made aware about various initiatives of Jammu Police like Helpline No. 9086100100, Care for your Buddy Programme, Police Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center Jammu etc. An oath against drug abuse was also taken by all the participants.
Besides 300 booklets on dug awareness, recently released by DGP J&K, were also distributed among the students.
