SRINAGAR, Apr 16: Police, along with officials from the Drug and Food Control Department and Executive Magistrates, conducted an inspection drive of chemist shops near hospitals in south Kashmir’s Shopian district as part of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.
A police spokesperson said the teams checked stock records, sale and purchase registers, licences, and other required documents. “The aim of the drive was to identify irregularities and prevent the illegal sale or misuse of medicines, especially controlled and prescription drugs that can lead to drug abuse among youth,” he said.
He added that officials warned that strict action would be taken under the NDPS Act against any violations involving illegal drugs or medicines.
