DODA, Apr 16: Police here today busted illegal poppy cultivation in Tipri area of Tehsil Thathri.
Police sources informed that PSI Sahil Verma, while on patrol in Tipri area of Police Station Thathri received credible information regarding illegal poppy farming by some people.
Acting swiftly, cops confirmed the involvement of Nazir Ahmed, son of Gh. Mohd, resident of Tipri, Tehsil Thathri, District Doda and Tanveer Ahmed, son of Mohd Sadiq, resident of Tipri, Tehsil Thathri, District Doda, in the crime.
Both the individuals were found to have illegally cultivated poppy plants in their agricultural fields, violating NDPS Act. As a result, two separate FIRs were filed at Police Station Thathri-FIR No. 28/2026 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act and FIR No. 29/2026 under Section 8/18 of the NDPS Act and investigations started.
