Police arrests 3 smugglers, rescues 16 bovines

RAJOURI, Sept 7: The Sunderbani and Nowshera Police rescued 16 bovine animals at two different places in their area today which were being smuggled to Kashmir valley. The police also arrested 3 bovine smugglers.
According to reports, SHO Sunderbani, Davinder Katoch on receiving information that bovines are being smuggled from Akhnoor via jungles of Sunderbani to Kashmir led a police party to chase them.
The police after covering some distance in the jungle trapped the smuggler at Chani Thrat in Sunderbani and seized all 12 animals.
The Police also arrested Mohammed Anzar alias Papu son of Abdul Salam a notorious smuggler resident of Pnager Thanamandi who was smuggling the animals to Kashmir valley and registered an FIR against him.
It may be recalled after laying nankas at various places against the bovine smugglers by Rajouri Police as bovine smugglers were using the Mugal road for smuggling of animals to Kashmir valley, the smugglers have adopted a new strategy of smuggling the animals via deep jungles to evade the police eye. But the alert Sunderbani Police not only foiled this bid but also succeeded in arresting a notorious smuggler and kingpin of gang.
In another case of bovine smuggling, Nowshera Police led by SHO Yash Paul during a naka rescued four bovine animals who too were being smuggled to Kashmir Valley by two smugglers today in the town.
The Police after seizing the bovines also arrested two smugglers who were identified as Mohammed Sagir, son of Ghulam –ud-Din and Mohammed Aslam, son of Abdul Majid both residents of Tarkari Koternaka .
