Seminar on ‘Publishing & Piracy’ held at KU

SRINAGAR, Sept 7: One-day seminar on ‘Publishing and Piracy’, was organized by the Federation of Publishers and Booksellers Association in India (FPBAI), New Delhi in collaboration with the Allama Iqbal Library, University of Kashmir, here today.
In his address, the KU vice-Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad urged the academicians , scholars and students to produce original research work. “There are certain trends in current world of publishing and producing research works, so if some of the technical things are taken into consideration, I think most of the problems could be solved there and then,” he said.
Asking the youngsters to show interest in publishing business, president, FPBAI, SC Sethi said that India has reached on third rank in the world of English book publishing so there was a lot of scope for the youngsters to start this business.
Dean Academic Affairs, Prof AM Shah asked the publishers to rethink their marketing and promotional policies as it would attract more and more customers.
Registrar, KU, Prof Zafar Ahmad Reshi said that it was a great opportunity for the students and scholars for understanding about the essentials of publishing business.
During the function, a book, titled as Anwar-e-Seerat Rasool (SAW) by Majid Majeed was also released.
